Dignified was painted in the later part of 2021 as a gift to my husband.

It captures John's most treasured horse, Addi, and one of his cherished past-times - backing into the box, getting ready, giving the nod and team roping with this brother.Those moments are now adoring memories.

The mountains have always been a favorite place for our family to visit. This painting is inspired by one of our favorite trips. So here it is. One of my most cherished possessions. My 40th surprise birthday gift from my wife and co-conspired by Christen Horner. On and off for over a decade I’ve said that one day I wanted to own a painting of myself as a centaur. I wanted long flowing, majestic hair and a chiseled body (well at least the human half). I joked that I’d hang it proudly in my home for all to see. As ridiculous as the idea was, when commissioned for the job Christen took it as serious as anything she’d ever done. She spent time mapping out the details of my personal back yard for the backdrop to the portrait. And even knowing Christen personally and speaking with her on a regular basis, she never let on that any of this was happening right under my nose. So the gift was a complete surprise and one I’ll always cherish. I’ve seen Christen’s work in so many fashions, yet not one of them has been anything less than amazing. I’m proud to call this piece my own and to display it proudly in my home for all to see and enjoy.

From a Distance was created in 2022 for the new Coleman County Medical Center. This piece is based off of an original photograph taken by the incredibly talented John Smiley. From a distance you can see so much beauty, life, tranquility. It's endless.

The Keeper was painted in 2022 from a submitted personal photograph as a birthday gift. This precious one is The Keeper - The Keeper of the Stars in my eyes. I've always been drawn to livestock, especially cattle, which I greatly attribute to my upbringing by my incredible parents. Being simply in the presence of cattle does something deep down in my soul. It calms me, soothes me, brightens me, hears me, sees me, allows me to be me. Painting this did just the same.

Ledge of Peace was created in 2022 for the new Coleman County Medical Center. Let yourself stand right there in the forefront of this piece and breathe in the true peace is portrays.

After being completely in love with our first piece I set out for another. This one Christen had more artistic control over and she did not disappoint. The meaning of this piece is a little bit more complex and extremely personal. And walking through my house each day with the reminder it brings is such a blessing. A picture of it doesn’t even capture the detail and depth that Christen has painted.
